First long all-day school trip = a huge hit!

At the end of last week, 86 older children from Bluebells went on a school trip to Mombasa visiting the Haller Park, Fort Jesus and Mama Ngina's gardens. The day started at 5 am when the children (currently all on Easter holidays) came to the school for breakfast and then they all clambered aboard on two buses that had been hired from a nearby secondary school.

For many of the party (which included all the staff members and our team of tailors too), it was their first ever trip out of Watamu and into the busy metropolis of Mombasa and its environs.

It was, by all accounts, the most JOYOUS day for everyone. They saw hippos, crocodiles and a giant tortoise as well as feeding some giraffes. There were horse rides and little cars to drive and then the opportunity to explore and learn about the history of Fort Jesus, that had been built by the Portuguese in 1593. Mombasa has always been an important strategic port throughout the centuries for the Indian Ocean Trade.

The day concluded with a slap up meal for everyone of chicken and chips. This whole trip was only made possible by the very kind and most generous donation of PD -  to whom  we say a huge 'ASANTE SANA' - for enabling this magical and most memorable day to 100 very grateful souls.

JOY JOY JOY UNABOUNDING!

Postscript - Here is a text message I received from one of the participants after the trip (as it was written to me.....)

"Thank you for the trip -  we enjoyed very much.  Where we entered was wonderful.  Thank you for inviting me to the trip because I have never been to such areas -  it was my first time -  thank you."
