The past six weeks have been an exceptionally busy and rewarding time on the volunteering front. We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a vibrant and dedicated group of volunteers, including undergraduates from Austria and Oxford University, as well as recent school leavers from Sherborne School for Girls, Wellington College, and Oundle School.

In the lead-up to their arrival, we held numerous Zoom calls and preparatory discussions to help them understand their roles and the impact they could make. They arrived well-prepared, full of energy, and equipped with thoughtful lesson plans and creative resources to complement the structured curriculum followed by our pupils.

Their enthusiasm and commitment have been truly outstanding. From blowing bubbles and creating face collages on paper plates, to painting vibrant murals, reading stories, and delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects—their contribution has been wide-ranging and deeply appreciated.

They have thrown themselves into school life with great spirit, taking part in football matches, teaching Scottish dancing, joining the joyful Friday assemblies, and, of course, enjoying Mwana’s delicious lunches.

To each and every one of you—Marie and Lila, Rose, Alice, Lucy and Flo, Olivia and Sophia, and Iris and Freya—we extend our heartfelt thanks. Your time, energy, and generosity have made a lasting difference.

The impact of these volunteers extends far beyond the classroom. Their presence has inspired the pupils, fostering a vibrant learning environment enriched with creativity, cultural exchange, and new experiences. The enthusiasm they bring not only enhances educational outcomes but also strengthens the sense of community within the school.

Many of the volunteers have expressed how much they have learned from their time here, gaining valuable insights into the local culture and education system. This mutual exchange of knowledge and friendship embodies the spirit of BBells and highlights the power of volunteering to bridge diverse backgrounds.
My grateful thanks for Alice SS for her magnificent photography.
