January Sunshine, Kenya side

How lucky am I? One of the joys of what I do, is that it gives me a very real reason to head back to each year - my home until I was 21 - and it never disappoints. Visiting the school is always a top priority when I arrive - which is absolutely thriving, and is always a highlight.  I love catching up with the staff, the children (how they grow!) and hearing their news.  In addition its very special to re-connect with our magnificent tailors too.  I loved seeing Ruth's new work shop.

In January, we were joined by three brilliant volunteers - Wilf, Cat and Poppy - who threw themselves into everything (and doubled up as very handy models too!). They especially loved the Friday morning whole-school assembly, which is quite simply a JOYOUS occasion. Think energetic singing, enthusiastic dancing, and plenty of percussion courtesy of the very talented  Mr Eddison. It’s impossible not to smile.

The two weeks I spent at Bluebells were absolutely unforgettable, it is the MOST precious school with incredible teachers and children. Thank you Jax for giving us the opportunity to experience just a small part of the most special school!

Volunteering at Bluebells is an experience that will stay with me forever. I miss the children with all my heart. Their joy, resilience, and warmth impacted me in a way I will carry with me forever. Being part of Bluebells was a true privilege, it is an extraordinary school filled with passion, purpose, and hope. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute, even in a small way, to such a beautiful and inspiring community.
