Many of you will remember Katana - he was the very first child we ever sponsored and proudly graduated last year.

For as long as he can remember, he's dreamed of creating a little place where children from his community could simply drop in after school, pick up a book, and lose themselves in a story. He knows first-hand the power that books can have. As a young boy, having access to books ignited his curiosity, fuelled his love of learning, and ultimately helped him pursue higher education.

Over the past year, another passion has taken root. Through his work at the Crab Shack in Dabaso, Katana has developed a deep love for the environment and a desire to care for the world around him. So he began planting trees and plants around his home,  slowly transforming a small space into something rather special.

Then, using reclaimed pieces of wood he found, he built simple benches and tables by hand.

The result is a beautiful little oasis - a cool, green haven where children can gather, read, dream and let their imaginations soar beneath the trees.

What makes this story even more special is that Katana is now giving back to the very community that nurtured him. The little boy who once treasured every book he could find is now opening that same world of possibility to the next generation.

We couldn't be more proud of Katana - his kindness, vision and determination are inspiring, and this little Forest School is already becoming a place where seeds of every kind are being planted—both in the ground and in young minds.

A huge thank you, too, to our wonderful volunteers for transporting the books to Kenya, and to Sticklands School, Evershot, for their generous donation of books. Again, their kindnesses  have helped turn one young man's dream into a place where many children can discover the joy of reading.
