The Great British Break Off

Having hit August the summer is disappearing far too quickly and while there may not be time to indulge in any big travel plans before school and university commence there is still time to squeeze in a last minute summer staycation! We have pulled together some of our favourite spots.

Rediscover the Isle of Wight:

Enjoy the simple holiday pleasures of walking, sailing, picnicking on the beach and even sea swimming in Queen Victoria's favourite holiday destination. If you arrive in Yarmouth you will enjoy exploring this historic harbour town located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A favourite spot for a picturesque amble is the coastline of Compton Bay while if your looking for a good seaside meal head to The Hut at Cowell Bay (www.thehutcolwell.co.uk), a beach cafe in an unrivalled location. You can even arrive by boat and be brought ashore by their boatman!

Glamping in The Cotswold:

Go back to basics (well sort of) by spending a few nights living under the stars. From yurts, cosy caravans to shepherd huts, forget the tent pegs and try glamping the luxurious form of British camping. Head to Canopy of Stars (www.canopyandstars.co.uk), a great site offering specially selected quirky places to spend a few nights in the most idyllic locations. If you like the sound of wood-burning stoves, hand delivered breakfast hampers and treetop bathtubs this could be the perfect place for your summer staycation.

Amble the Lanes in Brighton:

Head to Airbnb and book an apartment in Brighton for a long weekend by the British seaside. Spend a day or two relaxing on the beach, walking the pier and wandering The Lanes. North Laine is funky shopping at its best. For the best fish and chips we've ever eaten check out Fishy Fishy (www.fishyfishy.co.uk), Dermot O Leary's restaurant where you can enjoy unparalleled locally caught battered fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce and minted mushy peas!

Rent a cottage in the Lake District:

Explore some of the UK's most beautiful landscapes from a picturesque rural cottage retreat. Whether you are up for tackling ambitious walks or would rather mosey around the charming villages this is the perfect spot to remove yourself from the bustle of everyday life. Go to Sykes Cottages (www.sykescottages.co.uk) to find the perfect hideaway.
